LESLIE TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS

 

The Leslie Township Board of Trustees have set the regular scheduled meetings of the Township Board of Trustees for the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. EXCEPT July will be the third Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Leslie Township Board Room located at 4279 Oak Road, Leslie, Michigan.

 

The Board of Trustees set the meetings of the Planning Commission for the first Wednesday of September, November, February and April at 6:00 p.m. in the Leslie Township Board Room located at 4279 Oak Road, Leslie, Michigan.

 

Other meetings will be posted in compliance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Leslie Township Election Commission will be meeting on Tuesday,

October 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Leslie Township Business Office located at 4279 Oak St., Leslie, MI to offer direction for the November 6, 2018 Election.

The Leslie Township Election Commission will be meeting on Tuesday,

October 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Leslie Township Business Office located at 4279 Oak St., Leslie, MI to administer the accuracy test for the November 6, 2018 Election.

General Election

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2018

 

To the qualified Electors of the Township of Leslie and the City of Leslie in the County of Ingham, State of Michigan.

 

Notice is hereby given that the General Election will be held on Tuesday,

November 6, 2018. FOR THE PURPOSE OF NOMINATING THE FOLLOWING OFFICERS, VIZ:

 

STATE - Governor and Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Members of State Board of Education, Members of Board of Regents of the University of Michigan, Members of Michigan State University Board of Trustees, Members of Wayne State University Board of Governors.

CONGRESSIONAL - U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative in Congress.

LEGISLATIVE - State Senators and State Representatives.

COUNTY - County Commissioners.

And also to vote on the following non-partisan officers, viz:

Justices of the Supreme Court, Judges of the Court of Appeals, Judges of the Circuit Court, Judges of the Probate Court.

18-1 - A PROPOSED INITIATED LAW TO AUTHORIZE AND LEGALIZE POSSESSION, USE AND CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA PRODUCTS BY INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER, AND COMMERCIAL SALES OF MARIJUANA THROUGH STATE-LICENSED RETAILERS.

 

18-2 - A PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO ESTABLISH A COMMISSION OF CITIZENS WITH EXCLUSIVE AUTHORITY TO ADOPT DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR THE MICHIGAN SENATE, MICHIGAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND U.S. CONGRESS, EVERY 10 YEARS.

 

18-3 - A PROPOSAL TO AUTHORIZE AUTOMATIC AND ELECTION DAY VOTER REGISTRATION, NO-REASON ABSENTEE VOTING, AND STRAIGHT TICKET VOTING; AND ADD CURRENT LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTING AND POST-ELECTION AUDITS TO THE MICHIGAN CONSTITUTION.

Notice is hereby given that Tuesday, October 09, 2018, the 30th day preceding said election, is the LAST day to register for the General Election. Persons registering

after 5 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, October 09, 2018, are not eligible to vote at this election.

The Leslie Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, November 07, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. in the Leslie Township Board Room at 4279 Oak St. to consider:

1. An ordinance to amend the Leslie Township Zoning Ordinance to prohibit all land use activities which are contrary to state, local or federal law.

2. An ordinance to amend the Leslie Township Zoning Ordinance to address Solar.

3. An ordinance to amend the Leslie Township Zoning Ordinance to address Wind Turbine.

4. An ordinance to amend the Leslie Township Zoning Ordinance to address Signs.

5. An ordinance to amend the Leslie Township Zoning Ordinance to address Event Barns.

ORDINANCE CONFIRMING

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PLANNING COMMISSION

Notice of Adoption

 

Ordinance No. 18-10.1

 

At a meeting of the Township Board of Leslie Township, Ingham County, Michigan, held at the Leslie Township Hall on October 10, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., the Township Board adopted Ordinance No. 18-10.1, which confirms the establishment of the Leslie Township Planning Commission, provides for the composition of that planning commission and provides for the powers, duties and limitations of that planning commission. Copies of the complete text of the Ordinance were posted at the Leslie Township Hall at 4279 Oak Street, Leslie, Michigan 49251. 

 

The Ordinance has the following sections and catch lines: Section 1: Scope, Purpose and Intent; Section 2: Establishment; Section 3: Appointment and Terms; Section 4: Removal; Section 5: Conflict of Interest; Section 6: Compensation; Section 7: Officers and Committees; Section 8: Bylaws, Meetings and Records; Section 9: Annual Report; Section 10: Authority to Make Master Plan; Section 11: Zoning Powers; Section 12; Subdivision of Land and Land Division Recommendations; Section 13: Severability; Section 14: Repeal, which repeals all other ordinances in conflict with the Ordinance; Section 15: Effective Date, which is the date of the publication of this notice of adoption; and Section 16: Savings Clause.
